- Will the SPDs work in an off-grid only application?
Yes, the SPDs are valuable protection in grid-tie and off-grid applications. Their purpose is to protect the circuit, so they are still helpful in off-grid only systems. - How will I know when the MNSPD is not good anymore after a surge?
There are two metal clips inside the MNSPD. If one of them is broken and popped-up, then a surge has run through the MNSPD and it needs to be replaced. - How many SPDs do I need for my solar array?
If you are combining your strings, you can use one SPD at each combiner box. However, if you are not combining your strings, you will need one SPD for each string.
