    This is the second unit I have put in service. They work very well, I am using them with 10 watt solar panels. They keep the batteries charged and never over charge them. There is very little voltage drop across the unit when the sun is shining. When there is no sun, the spec indicates there is only 0.006 amp reverse current though the unit. You don't need a diode
