MidNite Solar MNWBJR Whiz Bang Jr Additional Troubleshooting Steps

If you are having trouble with your Whiz Bang Jr., in addition to the troubleshooting steps found in your manual, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can take:

  • The Whizbang Jr. is designed for low-side shunt measurement. Make certain the shunt is attached to battery-negative, not battery-positive.
  • Using a multimeter, check the voltage at your AUX2 terminal. It should read between 12 and 16 volts.
  • Do not use Loctite. Using loctite on the screws can prevent contact and therefore proper grounding.
  • On the MidNite Solar CLASSIC Charge Controller, change the Whiz Bang setting to Manual. The Whiz Bang LED should light up if there is a proper connection.
    • If the LED comes on, then 1) there may be a problem with your AUX2 terminal or 2) the charge controller may be misconfigured.
    • If the LED does not come on, then 1) the Whiz Bang may be defective, 2) there may be a broken wire, or 3) the Whiz Bang to the shunt is not grounded correctly.
