IronRidge Logo

IronRidge XR-100-168M Solar Rail Mill XR1000 Series 14ft PRE-CUT. This is an XR-100-168M rail cut in half. You will receive two halves, each measuring 84 inches (7 Feet). These cut rails ship ground, not freight. Use the XR100-BOSS-01-M1 to splice the halves together.

XR RailsĀ® are the structural backbone of IronRidgeĀ® pitched, flat and ground-based arrays. Their signature curve helps them to resist uplift, protect against buckling and safely and efficiently transfer loads into the building structure.

Their superior spanning capability requires fewer roof attachments, reducing the number of roof penetrations and the amount of installation time. Each size supports specific design loads, while minimizing material costs. Depending on your location, there is an XR RailĀ® to match.

Mill Finish and Performance

Aluminum with a mill finish, or bare aluminum, is the natural finish that extrusions have as they emerge from the extruder die. No additional surface preparation is applied. Aluminum oxidizes over time with a light white powder as it is exposed to air and moisture. Oxidization is accelerated under very moist, acid or salty conditions, generating a pitted surface. While the surface of the natural aluminum changes with exposure, there is no significant structural or mechanical impact to the integrity or performance of the aluminum.

FAQs

  • Why do my rails look stained or pitted?
This is a normal part of the mill finish material. Some surface oxidation is expected, but is purely cosmetic. It often occurs when moisture gets trapped between sections, especially in humid environments. This does not affect the strength or integrity of the rail in any way. Some methods that can be used to restore the finish (though they can take some time) include:
    • White Vinegar: Soak a rag, wrap it around the area for an hour or two, then scrub. Safe and inexpensive, but slower.
    • Commercial Rust Removers: Products like Evapo-Rust, Loctite Naval Jelly, or CLR work faster and are more effective for heavier oxidation.
    • Lemon Juice + Baking Soda: A natural option—make a paste, apply it, let it sit, and scrub it clean.
